Vermilion Flycatcher

These are one of my favorite birds to see, even if they are relatively common here in Mexico. They’re fun to watch swooping back and forth from their perch to grab insects in midair. I’ve seen the female, which isn’t nearly as colorful as the male, but I haven’t caught a picture of it yet…

They are in the Tyrannidae family (tyrant flycatchers) which is the largest family of birds but this guy is one of the most colorful of the lot.
